THE PERFORMANCE ENHANCER - 90S EDITION
Renowned alt-country veterans Wilco put their Indianapolis show back on after Indiana governor, Mike Pence, makes amendments to the latest and controversial, Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
According to Indiana news source, Indystar, “The compromised legislation specifies that the new religious freedom law cannot be used as a legal defense to discriminate against patrons based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Wilco originally canceled their May 7th show in protest for the new act and took to their Facebook page to state:
“The ‘Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act’ feels like thinly disguised legal discrimination to us. Hope to get back to the Hoosier State someday soon, when this odious measure is repealed. Refunds available at point of purchase.”
Since the amendment, they’ve reinstated their show, posting on their FB, “We consider the changes to Indiana's RFRA a good first step toward creating the sort of welcoming environment we encourage everywhere” and that the “portion of the proceeds from this show [will go to] organizations fighting to build on the progress we hope this change makes in Indiana and beyond.”
