The Rising are a ‘classic’ rock ‘n’ roll from Southampton, UK who takes influence from the thriving musical sounds of the 1960s/1990s.

Already having a first album, the ensemble is currently in the process of creating their second release, releasing the single ‘Free My Soul Tonight’ in January.

This EPK sets out to display the band naturally whilst promoting their latest single and upcoming album. It also explores who the band is, their personal lives and the consequences of being a band in Southampton.

The EPK opens with shots of The Rising practising in their usual location, with the camera focusing upon the band and surrounding objects. Beneath this, the band’s latest single is heard playing.

The opening proceeds onwards to introduce each member. They announce to the camera who they are and their position in the group.

Following on, vocalist Tommy Overington explains who The Rising is and how he would classify their music.

He also elucidates the reasoning behind how the sounds of the 1960s became a defining factor. Fellow band member Jimmy Hayes continues on from this, signifying his own personal influences.

The band continues by talking about their recent single and discloses information about their future album. ‘Fly on the Wall’ style footage is incorporated throughout the documentary to provide a more imitate, inartificial and grainer look - especially portrayed through the usage of black and white.

The second part of the documentary presents the band in a more quirky way, with the band slotting in jokes. It also sets out to explain the outcome of being a band in Southampton has. Whilst this happens, the band’s B side of their single ‘If You Get with Me’ is heard playing below.

The EPK closes with the band saying their last words, which again a few jokes are made. The whole film ends with a shot of the band’s details, providing further places for the viewer to investigate to find out more about The Rising.
