Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich joined British rock duo Royal Blood on stage in San Francisco on April 15th at their gig at the US city’s Slim’s venue.

The American heavy metal band’s drummer Ulrich picked up Royal Blood’s Ben Thatcher’s drumsticks for the final song of the band’s set, during a rendition of their hit single ‘Out of the Black’.

Royal Blood’s Ben Thatcher stage dived and crowd surfed whilst being replaced on the drums by Ulrich. MUSE and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello also attended the gig.

Ulrich met the Brighton two-piece after attending their San Francisco gig in September 2014. The drum legend hung out with the Brit and NME award winners, taking them to the house from the film Mrs Doubtfire.

The garage rock two-piece released a chart topping self-titled debut album in August 2014 and have completed a headline tour.

Metallica are still working on their upcoming tenth studio album.
